Examination of entrepreneurship levels of sports management department students in terms of socio-economic parameters

The aim of the study was to examine the entrepreneurial levels of the students of the Sports Management Department of the Faculties of Sports Sciences located in the Aegean region in terms of various socio-cultural parameters. The study is based on a descriptive research model. The data was obtained using a questionnaire consisting of structured questions. The questionnaire consists of two parts and forty-eight questions. In the first part of the survey, the students of the sports management department were asked “Entrepreneurship scale” consisting of thirty-six questions aimed at determining the level of entrepreneurship, and in the second part, twelve questions were asked to determine the demographic qualities. The scale is taken from Yildiz and Sumbul's (2009) article "Developing Entrepreneurship Scale for University Students" published in Selcuk University Institute of Social Sciences journal. In a study of the reliability of the scale, the reliability coefficient was calculated as (Cronbach alpha= 0.90.) The main mass of our study was composed of students of the Department of Sports Management, which is part of the faculties of Sports Sciences of State universities in the Aegean region. Individuals selected for the sample mass were first determined by field sampling method; students of the Sports Management Department of the Faculty of Sports Sciences operating in Denizli, Usak and Kutahya provinces were determined by simple random sampling method. The main mass number was 978 and the sample number was 360 individuals. Chi-square (X2) test statistics were used to evaluate the data obtained. As a result of the X2 analysis, significant relationships were found between the income levels of the families of the students of the sports management department, the idea of work that they do not share with anyone, and their age (p<0.05). It was concluded that there was no significant relationship between classes in which students are located, place of permanent residence, whether they receive courses or training related to entrepreneurship, working status, internship status, university admission methods, education methods and Licensed Sports years and entrepreneurial levels (p>0.05). Overall, students' entrepreneurship levels were high.
